I’m sure you’ve heard people say “You’re never too old to learn something new”. Well, we, at MetroTots, believe that you’re never too young either, especially when it comes to learning about God and His love for us.
MetroTots isn’t just a place where parents drop off their young toddlers so that the grown-ups can enjoy a time of worship in the main sanctuary in peace. Our children are enjoying times of fellowship, worship, bible study, giving offering, and even sharing a “meal” together. They are learning how to share, take turns, and live in community with others.
MetroTots don’t just worship with their voices but with their whole bodies as they dance, jump, and spin around! We especially love to hear stories from parents about how their Tots sing the worship songs we sing during service at home on their own, or recall the story they heard the previous Sunday.
However, the learning can’t start and end at MetroTots, or any other student ministry, on Sundays. We, parents and any adults who have children we impact, have to encourage and model the learning throughout the week. Especially at this most impressionable age, we must make sure that our words and actions reflect the love of God.
Yes, we will make mistakes (God knows how many times I have), and yes, there will be times we struggle, but even in those moments, we need to show our children that God forgives us, that we forgive ourselves, and we try try again.
This month, our MetroTots are learning to be strong and courageous and not be afraid, for the Lord our God goes with us (Deuteronomy 31:6). This verse reminds me to go and make disciples of my children without fear of failure because God is with me in this journey called parenting.
