Last Sunday, all of our Metro students got to be a part of the Journey Service (MetroTots, MetroKids, MetroEdge, MetroMerge, and MetroX) and hear a sermon from Pastor Shirley. It was an especially blessed time as our very own MetroX/Merge Junior Praise Team led worship for the entire service. Every child from MetroTots all the way up to MetroX sat together in one room to worship the Lord and every part of our hearts melted. We even had Annelise Hur and Ryan Kong share about Zimele and dedicated our Sunday offering to this cause!
The verse that came to mind was the one in the book of Mark 10:14-16:
“Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them."
It's often difficult to see the bigger picture when we come to serve in our different ministries every Sunday but this past Sunday was a gentle reminder of God's amazing plan for His beloved children. Even the little ones clapped and sang with the purest form of worship anyone could witness.
Pastor Ancy asked all of us to open our hands facing up so that we could receive in spirit what God wanted so lovingly to give us. Every hand was turned up to receive all of the God's goodness for His children. The saying goes that it takes a village to raise a child and it was so good to see how each time a child graduated from one ministry to the next, God had been and is covering each one, equipping them for the greater and deeper lessons in the Word with each step.
The name "Journey" is perfect for what lies ahead as every pastor, teacher, and staff member walks along-side each child. Personally, I am very grateful for every prayer, every word of encouragement, and all of the time dedicated to our children with God's love in the center.
