Reflections from two young men on serving at the nursing home
From Andy Son
The first time i went to the Lillian booth actors funds, I met a resident named Betty who sat in the hallway and watched our activity. I asked her why she didn't join and instead of answering, she asked, "Are you an actor? You look like an actor." The first couple of times she forgot me but now, after seeing her a lot, I think she remembers me. There is someone else named Anna and she likes drawings, so when we do an activity that requires drawing she always loves it. She concentrates very hard and smiles a lot. The last resident I want to talk about is Leona. She never used to participate in the activities but now she loves it!
I like going there to make the residents happy because it reminds me when I made my great grandma happy. Sadly she passed away a few years ago. I hope more people come and make the residents happy!

I like spending time with the residents at the Actors Fund because we have a lot of fun, like making Father's Day frames. Then we spend time just talking about our life and other things like what we want to be when we grow up. I tell them stories about WWII and all the cats and dogs my Aunt Sandy rescued. I feel close to God because he said, “Love others as you love yourself."
