Knowing that hundreds of our sisters and brothers were going to be gathering all over the greater Chicago area at noon today to make a unified call for peace http://chicagopeace.net/ we decided to back them up with a little gathering of our own.
About a dozen friends and neighbors got together on our front porch to pray, share stories and confess our confusion mingled with hope. We prayed for Chicago and added some prayer for our own community.
The consensus seemed to be that talking and listening are good and must continue, but we are ready for action as well. Maybe Pastor Kimberly will give some guidance tomorrow as to how we can be activists in the struggle for racial righteousness and justice.
