As Christians, we are not exempt from sexism - in fact, in many cases, the misinterpretation of scripture continues to cause a lot of harm, particularly towards women.

We have identified a trusted ministry partner that is currently providing real-time relief for the suffering people of Puerto Rico. The National Latino Evangelical Coalition (NaLEC) is uniting multiple churches, denominations and agencies in bringing aid to the hardest hit areas of Puerto Rico. It's apple-picking season and Metro's T3 (over-40's) ministry wants you and your family to join us for a memorable, church-wide event at Masker Orchards (45 Ball Road, Warwick, NY), enjoying the unforbidden fruit that keeps the doctor away. There's no entrance fee - just pay for the bag(s) of apples you take home (about $29 per bag). All ages are welcomed! Share the love of Christ with a child who has an incarcerated parent! Angel Tree is a national program that partners with churches to provide Christmas gifts to children who have a parent in prison. Metro is partnering with Angel Tree for the first time to provide gifts to 30 children and volunteers are needed! Metro's Arts Ministry will be hosting a "wine" and painting night from 6:30pm on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Metro Office! Jess Gelber has volunteered her skills as an artist in hopes of raising money as a small offering for our church as well as creating a new way for people to come fellowship! Come paint with friends, with strangers, or perhaps someone special for a great date night activity ;) No painting experience is necessary - just a small $20 fee for materials. Summer vaca is almost over...but don't be sad, because our small groups (aka UGs) are about to resume! Fall signups begin at church on Sunday, Sept. 17 (online signups to follow), with groups officially kicking off in early Oct. Be sure to register early, as it's first-come first-in, and once a group's person-limit is reached, it will be closed to new registrations.

Volunteers are needed to serve a meal to our homeless neighbors at Family Promise on Saturday, September 16 from 4pm-7pm. Family Promise is located at 120 South River Street in Hackensack. Volunteers will be responsible for set-up, serving, and clean up. All food and supplies will be provided by Metro. The minimum age to volunteer is 14.
