Thanksgiving - a remedy for when we are unhappy

"I become furious with the wicked, because they reject your instructions." Psalm 119:53 This verse stood out to me as I was reading Psalm 119 last night. After watching the documentary "13th" and "Before the Flood," this was the emotion I was feeling. Furious. I'm becoming more aware of what is going on in our world, country and neighborhoods. The reality isn't pretty and it is very disheartening.

Rather than turn a blind eye to what's happening, God encourages us to be people who know how to lament AND be thankful. Our Metro community has so much to be thankful for. Each one who participates in the life of our church is a special gift. We're thankful for our cheerful givers and volunteers, the children's and teen's programs, our Underground Groups and so much more!

That's probably why our Thanksgiving meal means so much to me. Even though it's only once a year, I'm thankful that we can all sit down together and enjoy each other's company over a great meal!

As we wrap up the month of Thanksgiving and begin the Advent Season, let's continue to be thankful as well as generous as we head into the month of Giving. God has given us so much! His Son, our lives, our salvation! Let's be more aware of what's going on in this world, what's going on in our country, what's going on in our neighborhoods. Let's keep praying, loving and fighting for what's right.

Hope everyone can enjoy moments (whether random or planned) with God during this holiday season!
